Day 01 – … / Lima

¡Welcome to Peru!

Upon arrival at The International Airport of Lima (Jorge Chavez) a representative of Peru 4×4 adventures / Quality Travel International will be awaiting for you, from there on transfer to the hotel. Arrival and check in (15:00 Hrs.). Short briefing about the expedition and the usage of the 4×4 units, as well as safety regulations etc.

Day 02 – Lima – Tambo Colorado – Paracas (Total 303 kms)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early departure at 06:00 Hrs. with 4×4 units with direction to the city of Paracas. On route visit the archaeological site of “Tambo Colorado” which was an Inca settlement (1450 A.D.) located in the province of Pisco. The name was given because of the predominance of red in their buildings. It was one of the most important centres established by the Incas on the coast. It is a set of buildings made of mud walls and adobes; among them are the best preserved ruins of Peru. We continue with the visit to the National Reservation of Paracas. Protected area, which holds many protected bird species. Arrival and check in the hotel.

Day 03 – Paracas – Ica – Nazca (Total 214 kms)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early in the morning departure to Paracas in order to board your boat tour to the Ballestas Islands, from where you will observe sea lions, seals, Humboldt penguins and many other bird species. Then with our 4×4 units transfer to the Ica city where we will visit the wine & Pisco bodegas, you will also be able to visit the Regional Museum. Afterwards depart to the city of Nazca, on route you will be able to do some stops in order to observe the Incas head in Palpa, some of the Palpa lines and the Maria Reiche Museum, also climb the observation tower on the Panamericana highway and observe the Nazca Lines.

Day 04 – Nazca

Breakfast at the hotel.

Although here we recommend that breakfast should always be taken after the flight over the Nazca Lines. After flight over the Nazca Lines guided visit to the Archaeological complex (Pyramid) of Cahuachi. This was a religious and ceremonial centre located 28 kms from the city of Nazca and it is said that from here the Nazca Lines were born. Cahuachi is also said to be the largest sand and clay city in the world and measures in size more than 24 square kilometres. Afterwards return to the hotel.

*Optional: Full Day San Fernando (For this adventure 4×4 excursion it is required that you stay one additional night in Nazca or Ica). In this excursion we will drive through sand dunes reaching nearly 1000 m.a.s.l overlooking the bay of San Fernando. San Fernando bay is located nearly 70 kms from Nazca city, and it is in this peculiar place you may observe the Condor, Humboldt Penguins, Sea Lions, Guanacos, Dessert Foxes and other typical dessert fauna. A box lunch or a BBQ is possible this under specific request of the client.

Day 05 – Nazca – Abancay (Total 460 kms)

Breakfast at the hotel.

We suggest an early breakfast at the hotel in order to depart on time from Nazca to Chalhuanca. On our journey we will visit Pampas Galeras, known as one of the principal Vicuna reservations in South America and the largest in the world. If on time and if it is open one can visit the local museum on Vicuna.

We will drive by Puquio and also the Yauriviru Lagoon at 4400 m.a.s.l. Before arriving in Chalhuanca we will also have the opportunity to visit the Inca Tambo of Tarawasi. Dinner at the hotel restaurant and tasting of cane sour.

Day 06 – Abancay – Sacred Valley (Total 205 kms)

Breakfast at the hotel.

On route from Abancay to Cusco, we went through the city of Abancay and continue visit the famous circular carved stone of Saywite, which measures 2.5 metres high. One distinguishes in its carved formed, flora and fauna as well as topographic landscapes of the Inca Empire. Continue the journey to the Sacred Valley in Cusco.

Day 07 – Sacred Valley

Breakfast in the hotel.

Full day excursion in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting the Pisaq Market and ruins, the salt beds of Maras and Moray agricultural complex. Return to Urubamba. At night you will enjoy a pizza night.

Day 08 – Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Departure by train to Aguas Calientes in a beautiful panoramic ride…
